Blueeee Diaper

This is the newest diaper I made! It's a size 1 and it's super cute. I used 16mm snaps this time for a change in color. I like them just as much as the 20mm snaps.

Folded to show small sizing.

Folded to show newborn sizing.

Open to show the doublers. It's a little wrinkled in the picture. Oops. This time I put the snaps under the top soaker. Now really sure why I wasn't doing that for the others.. But I like it better this way.

Pretty diapers!

Here are the newest diapers I've made. I like them and I didn't have and issues sewing them. I'm starting to really get the hang of it. This pattern is the Rainy Days pattern. It has two sizes. I'm currently working on size one diapers. They are each a newborn and small size diaper in one.

Duckies! This is the ducky diaper folded into newborn size.

Newborn flap still folded but diaper unsnapped.

Just folded and unsnapped duckies.

Small size duckies.

How freaking cute is the ducky doubler!?

Showing the bottom doubler.

See how the edges are supposed to look?

Green and blue diaper folded in newborn fold.

folded and unsnapped.

Small fold!

Unfolded to see the doublers.

In this picture you can see what the "other side of the doublers and inside of the diaper looks like.

Closed in small size.

Reasons to not sew with a headache :)

So...I spent some time sewing while I had a nasty headache all day long a few days ago. I ended up with a semi-defective diaper. And by that I mean it looks a little funny but I think it will work fine. Even if it's just as an emergency diaper. the elastic is too close to the leg seams..and I'm worried it will rub. But I could just be talking craziness. It's probably fine. But here are the pictures.
Newborn fold.

Newborn fold, but unfolded.

Butterfly doubler.

Both doublers in place.

Small size fold.

Leg opening. You can see where I made the mistake and the elastic is right inside the serged edge.

At least the back of the diaper has the elastic in the right spot.

This shows how the doublers detach.

The baby stuff!

Ok so I knew all along since day 1 of trying to have a baby that we would be cloth diapering and using cloth wipes. So I finally got the show on the road and made a little over 50 wipes. Then yesterday I started my diapers. I've finished one diaper. Not perfect, but it'll work and that's what's important here :)
The wipes are just 8x8 inch squares of terry cloth and flannel that are serged together. For the terry I just cut up old towels.

This is the color flannel I used. I got the flannel for all my diapers and wipes from the thrift store or from clothes I already owned. The flannel for the wipes was a purple sheet I got from the thrift store for about 2 dollars.

This is to show off both sides of the wipes.

This shows both sides as well.

I made this diaper using the Rainy Days Pattern. They aren't perfect! (First time serging around curves and it's not easy but I started to get the hang of it by the time I had to make the inner soaker "petals".)
This diaper is the size 1 diaper. It fits a newborn and a baby up to 18 pounds. This is  snapped so it would fit a bigger  baby.  You can make it even bigger by not snapping it as far across.

This is snapped so it will fit a newborn. It is folded down and snapped so that it won't irritate the cord stump . So it truly is great for a newborn.

This is the diaper all stretched out to show the snaps and the inner  soaker "petals", which are basically exactly like a doubler. They are sewn together and then snapped into the inside of the diaper.

Busy and not busy..

Since my last post a ton has happened. We finally found out I'm pregnant.. That was over 3 months ago! I'll be 13 weeks on Monday! So I have been pretty busy.. and not busy. The first trimester seriously wore me down. I was tired and not in a crafty mood, but I have managed a few things.

We had carpet installed the week after I found out about the pregnancy and we were in the process of painting the bedrooms that were getting new carpet. we decided to paint the baby's room light green since I wasn't pregnant yet and wasn't sure when I'd be. So it's green.. I'll have to take pictures of our new guest room and nursery soon once the nursery is finished.

I finally finished my dining room curtains. They're pretty gorgeous.
Husband putting up the curtains!

My curtains after putting ties around them.

We had to attach the curtain rod to the door. It way a huge pain since they are metal doors. We bought some command strips. Took off the big plastic part you would normally use to hang things. The piece of plastic that is sticky got krazy glued to the curtain rod holder. So the entire thing is being held to the door by a command strip. lol...It seems to be holding up pretty well.

Grandma's Hat.

RIGHT before our "Epic Kelly Clarkson road trip", I finished this hat for my Grandmother. It ended up being too big, so she and my mom sewed the ear flaps into the inside of the hat because they were unnecessary. She loved it though. So I'm happy!

TIME FOR SLEEP

Oh no..I wasn't sleeping. Just was told to hide my eyes.

A train!!!

02/18/12
Day 2 in Katy-Train show, amazing Tex Mex and the Mall with the Target. I still don't know much about trains.... but I'm learning things.. Like 3 rails on tracks is stupid, and these people put so much time, effort, and money into their hobby. It's not just grown adults playing with toys. It's really awesome.

Notice the Whataburger cup. That's what I'm talking about.

I thought this train looked cool.

These are the 3 rail tracks that suck lol.

LOOK more 3 rail tracks.

This train was actually moving.

Poor Allen. We do these things to him and he's such a good sport.

Less amused. lol

TREEES

I can't get over how much time had to go into these displays.

This picture has the funniest story. This guy was a riot, and so nice.  He was surprised I was taking pictures I think haha.

I have no idea what this is.

Another funny Allen face.

This produce shop is so much "Fun in Action"

Look! the smoke is shaped like trains!

I'm not really sure why I took this picture.

Look.. a pot to spit in.

My mind is a very sarcastic place. lol

I don't really know why I took this picture haha.

Pink conductor hat!

Yes. It really does say that.

This little roller coaster thing was so cute. We stood there and watched it for awhile.

I don't know why but I love this farm house.

Train crashed!

And right near the crash was this! Safe?! lol

This isn't real water! So cool how they create these things.

The Katy!

HOLY EPIC TEX MEX

Does anyone who was there remember why I took a picture of Red Bull on the ground under the car?

The mall hallway. This was the hall that had the train club.

A TARGET IN A MALL.

These trains were in the train club headquarters.

Here are some videos I took..

These are the pictures Allen took at the train show.

Panoramic view

This wasn't staged at all...

Haha

Me being awesome, as usual with my awesome glasses.

This was seriously the loudest bird ever.

02/19/12
Day 3 in Katy! Horse Races!- We went to Houston to the horse races at the Sam Houston Race Park.

I'm still not sure what he's doing here..

Our seats were right on the finish line.

I really was enjoying myself. This picture makes me look...like I'm not haha.

Again. I'm silly.

His shoulder smelled good.

Day 4 in Katy. NASA... We drove to Houston and went to see some serious history. ..And some serious futuristic stuff. Was soooo incredibly awesome.

The red eye always makes me think of Twilight vampires now. So it's Twilight vampires in space.

YEAH!!!!!!

I don't think he took any pictures of me where I wasn't taking a picture, looking at my camera, or contemplating the next picture I'd take.

These next pictures are of a Saturn Rocket.
I googled a Saturn V launch, and found this picture so y'all could see this amazing feat of engineering for it's time. This particular picture shows the launch of the Skylab space station aboard the last Saturn V rocket from the Kennedy Space Center on May 14, 1973.
I added this picture so you can further understand what you're looking at. I found it on the Saturn V Wikipedia page. Click on it to make it bigger.

So the end of a Saturn rocket had 5 F-1 engines. From what I understand, These carried the rocket up and  and out of the atmosphere. They used kerosene for fuel. Once the rocket was up high enough, these were jettisoned and landed in the Atlantic ocean.

This is the second section of the Saturn Missile. Allen's Mom took these pictures and I ended uploading them first. Later, when you see my pictures you'll be able to understand more of what you're looking at.

This is us standing under the front(top) of the Saturn Rocket. The dark colored section is where the astronauts would be sitting.

I can't wait till we go back to the moon with the  Orion deep space exploration vehicles. They also plan to take it to Mars. This is supposed to take place in my life time. And to be honest... It's really really exciting.

This is the huge room where the astronauts train for their missions.

This is the viewing area where we looked into the room where they train.

They will soon be moving ALL of these things out of the building.

Everything will be going to museums.

They will be using the space for astronauts to train for Orion.

This is the mission control center used for most of the Apollo Missions.

It was one of the coolest things I've ever seen.

Riding on the Tram.

On The Tram.

lol

We really had so much fun with these helmets.

Moon Rocks

There's a moon rock in there..And we got to touch it.

In the theater.

NASA is so great because they also do some really interesting Ocean exploration.

Yum Food!

We really are this happy most of the time. I'm the luckiest girl in the world.

The Moon. Duh.

the best part of this Wall was that Allen almost destroyed the entire thing haha.

Ok so here's the front end of the Saturn Rocket. Basically what you're looking at is the  the launch escape system on the left. Basically if somewhere were to happen..and they knew in advance, the astronauts could disconnect their command module from the rest of the rocket and parachute down to the ground safely. This is all speculation though, since they never used this system. Next to that in the photo is the command module, which is the brown section. This is where the astronauts were throughout the entire mission. Once into space the Launch escape system is jettisoned. It's completely useless once they've left the atmosphere, and that's more weight they couldn't afford to take to the moon.
The Command module is part of the third stage of the Saturn Rocket. There is one J-2 engine attached to this section. The rest of the rocket is jettisoned before this engine will be used.

A different view of the Stage 3 rocket.

They've taken the rocket apart so that people can see where things were and what the astronauts did in space. Once the astronauts were clear of Earth's gravity, they moved their command module back behind the rocket. The moon vehicle would be in this section. And the command module fits in behind it.

This is the one engine on the back of the Stage 3 rocket.

The whole of the stage 3 rocket.

This is the next section of the rocket has 5 j-2 engines. It is used to propel the rocket above 42 above the Earth.

Back of Stage 2 and front of Stage 1.

The back of Stage one. I explained this further up. But here is some information copied from the Saturn V Wikipedia page.
The first stage burned for about 2 minutes and 41 seconds, lifting the rocket to an altitude of 42 miles (68 km) and a speed of 6,164 miles per hour (2,756 m/s) and burning 4,700,000 pounds (2,100,000 kg) of propellant. After S-IC separation, the S-II second stage burned for 6 minutes and propelled the craft to 109 miles (175 km) and 15,647 mph (25,182 km/h– 7.00 km/s), close to orbital velocity.

Me taking a picture of an F-1 engine.

Wind blown hair!

These next pictures are of the giant building that housed all of the Training equipment.

Spider-naut. This is new technology NASA will be using in the future. To me it looks like a giant replicator from SG1.. and we all saw how that turned out haha.

More pictures of mission control center.

He laughed every time I took his picture.

Saturn V! You know..when I first saw this, I was immediately reminded of this:

PUT THE VITA DOWN

This uniform was worn by Judith Resnik. Her family donated it after the Challenger explosion.

Me touching the moon rock.

Here are all the pictures I took in rocket park

He leaned on it thinking there was a wall behind it. No wall. Almost brought the entire thing down. Too funny.

We all took Saturn V pictures, but I was pretty thorough.

Woo!!!

He was so embarassed when I took this haha. He wanted to get a picture with me. It was so funny. I really should have haha.

I noticed this while sitting on the Tram...after going through to rounds of security..and them not finding my pepper spray, which was right there in my bag. It's a road the tram takes that goes under the freeway.. But you can literally just walk right into NASA from the freeway haha.

Biloxi!-2/21/12-2/22/12
Love it!!!

Allen playing Keno.

Me next to him playing poker.

Our Hotel.

Georgia!!!!-2/22/12-2/24/12
Allen and Cody at the Marietta Diner
Varsity hat!!

Kelly Clarkson Atlanta, Georgia.-2/23/12. My Camera's zoom wasn't working for some reason and Allen's camera died. So I ended up with some incredibly awful pictures. the good news is we met two friends at the concert. The one was in the same row as us and the other was closer. They both got good videos and pictures. So I'll post those. We were really really close to the stage..but you can't tell from the pictures.

I'm sooo soo soo Thankful and glad we met Laci and Crystal. Those two girls are soo awesome. And we were all sitting in similar spots near each other. So their pictures are almost exactly what Allen and I saw. So I definitely need to thank both of them for letting me use their videos and pictures. Next time we'll make sure we have the proper cameras for the show lol.

Crystal's videos-She was literally in the same row as us..Just over a little further. And her videos are a billion times better because she could actually zoom. This is really how close we were. So I don't really care that our pictures sucked.. Because she was incredible.

Crystal's Pictures-

Laci's pictures- she was a couple rows in front of us and Crystal. I believe she was in row E and we were in row M.
