Blueeee Diaper

This is the newest diaper I made! It's a size 1 and it's super cute. I used 16mm snaps this time for a change in color. I like them just as much as the 20mm snaps.

Folded to show small sizing.

Folded to show newborn sizing.

Open to show the doublers. It's a little wrinkled in the picture. Oops. This time I put the snaps under the top soaker. Now really sure why I wasn't doing that for the others.. But I like it better this way.

Pretty diapers!

Here are the newest diapers I've made. I like them and I didn't have and issues sewing them. I'm starting to really get the hang of it. This pattern is the Rainy Days pattern. It has two sizes. I'm currently working on size one diapers. They are each a newborn and small size diaper in one.

Duckies! This is the ducky diaper folded into newborn size.

Newborn flap still folded but diaper unsnapped.

Just folded and unsnapped duckies.

Small size duckies.

How freaking cute is the ducky doubler!?

Showing the bottom doubler.

See how the edges are supposed to look?

Green and blue diaper folded in newborn fold.

folded and unsnapped.

Small fold!

Unfolded to see the doublers.

In this picture you can see what the "other side of the doublers and inside of the diaper looks like.

Closed in small size.

Reasons to not sew with a headache :)

So...I spent some time sewing while I had a nasty headache all day long a few days ago. I ended up with a semi-defective diaper. And by that I mean it looks a little funny but I think it will work fine. Even if it's just as an emergency diaper. the elastic is too close to the leg seams..and I'm worried it will rub. But I could just be talking craziness. It's probably fine. But here are the pictures.
Newborn fold.

Newborn fold, but unfolded.

Butterfly doubler.

Both doublers in place.

Small size fold.

Leg opening. You can see where I made the mistake and the elastic is right inside the serged edge.

At least the back of the diaper has the elastic in the right spot.

This shows how the doublers detach.

The baby stuff!

Ok so I knew all along since day 1 of trying to have a baby that we would be cloth diapering and using cloth wipes. So I finally got the show on the road and made a little over 50 wipes. Then yesterday I started my diapers. I've finished one diaper. Not perfect, but it'll work and that's what's important here :)
The wipes are just 8x8 inch squares of terry cloth and flannel that are serged together. For the terry I just cut up old towels.

This is the color flannel I used. I got the flannel for all my diapers and wipes from the thrift store or from clothes I already owned. The flannel for the wipes was a purple sheet I got from the thrift store for about 2 dollars.

This is to show off both sides of the wipes.

This shows both sides as well.

I made this diaper using the Rainy Days Pattern. They aren't perfect! (First time serging around curves and it's not easy but I started to get the hang of it by the time I had to make the inner soaker "petals".)
This diaper is the size 1 diaper. It fits a newborn and a baby up to 18 pounds. This is  snapped so it would fit a bigger  baby.  You can make it even bigger by not snapping it as far across.

This is snapped so it will fit a newborn. It is folded down and snapped so that it won't irritate the cord stump . So it truly is great for a newborn.

This is the diaper all stretched out to show the snaps and the inner  soaker "petals", which are basically exactly like a doubler. They are sewn together and then snapped into the inside of the diaper.

Busy and not busy..

Since my last post a ton has happened. We finally found out I'm pregnant.. That was over 3 months ago! I'll be 13 weeks on Monday! So I have been pretty busy.. and not busy. The first trimester seriously wore me down. I was tired and not in a crafty mood, but I have managed a few things.

We had carpet installed the week after I found out about the pregnancy and we were in the process of painting the bedrooms that were getting new carpet. we decided to paint the baby's room light green since I wasn't pregnant yet and wasn't sure when I'd be. So it's green.. I'll have to take pictures of our new guest room and nursery soon once the nursery is finished.

I finally finished my dining room curtains. They're pretty gorgeous.
Husband putting up the curtains!

My curtains after putting ties around them.

We had to attach the curtain rod to the door. It way a huge pain since they are metal doors. We bought some command strips. Took off the big plastic part you would normally use to hang things. The piece of plastic that is sticky got krazy glued to the curtain rod holder. So the entire thing is being held to the door by a command strip. lol...It seems to be holding up pretty well.
